It’s been a while since I have had a client in front of my camera. After getting pregnant with my 3rd boy, I decided to take a lot of time off. For one, I was going through my third trimester in the middle of summer here in Vegas and two, I just needed a break. Its been a wonderful journey. I had a lot of time to find my inspiration again. I did a lot of personal shooting of my daily life and that taught me something about myself that I already knew. There is nothing sweeter than capturing the true essence of a family. Something that makes the viewer connect to the intimacy of the moment. That is what I want to offer my clients. Anyone can sit and smile for a pretty portrait, but what is the purpose of taking pictures of ourselves if not to feel something, to remember not just how we looked but how we loved. To remember the details of tiny hands and toothless grins. To remember dad as the tickle monster or mom’s sweet embrace and to remember the love between two parents. So I am walking into this new season, as a photographer, with an open heart. Connecting with my clients on a more intimate level so that I can give them memories and not just a pretty picture.
The Johnson Family has been in front of my camera a few times. I photographed mom’s sweet belly when she was pregnant with their youngest and we also did a lifestyle newborn session once he was born. Now here they are two years later creating new memories as a family of four. The boys are independent, energetic and full of life and that definitely shows in their session. We were met with wind, a little bit of rain and even some tribal drumming during their session, but I really could not have asked for it to have gone any better.
