Family Portrait Photography has become one of my favorite types of photography over this past year. I really feel like I have honed in on a solid workflow system throughout a portrait session that works and also allows me to walk away with engaging, artistic images. I also love when other photographers contact me to photograph their family. I guess I must be doing something right. This beautiful military family contacted me about doing portraits after I had a cancellation on my November calendar. As it turns out, mom is also a local photographer. Her husband was coming home after being gone for 8 months in Texas and she wanted to have some portraits taken before Christmas. I am actually really happy that I was able to get them on my calendar. I just absolutely adored meeting and photographing this family. After some back and forth discussion trying to decide on a location, they ended up picking the Valley of Fire State Park. I was secretly happy they did as I had not been out there once this fall and its one of my favorite places, despite the drive.
