I love doing in-home lifestyle sessions. It’s such a personal experience for the families to invite me into their homes and really be in the moment with them to document their lives. However, nothing is more real than these moments! I was so excited when the “A” family wanted to do an in-home session. There youngest child was turning one and she told me she wanted to do a cake smash for her. Normally, I am not into cake smashes because my style does not include a lot of props and most cake smashes include a lot of themed props. However, I could totally get into an in-home cake smash! This family was so much fun! The kids wanted to show me all around the house, including their rooms of course. I could not say no. I loved their sons boat bed so I told him to make a pirate face for me and it was one of my favorite shots. We read stories, jumped on the bed, played make believe, smashed a cake and then got to eat it at the end! Does it really get any better than that during a session? The last thing I ever want is for my clients to feel bothered, annoyed or ready for their photoshoot to be over before it even begins. I just want everyone to have fun and love each other. That is what helps to create the raw moments that will leave you feeling something amazing every time you look at your images. Is life about saying cheese, or is it about hugs and kisses, tickling, laughter, a snuggle, and maybe a funny face or two? This is exactly what I got from the “A” family. Genuine love and happiness.
